Zavadil Receives VFW Award
(May 24, 2002, Glenwood, MN)
Larry Zavadil, president of American Business Forms, was selected to receive Minnesota’s VFW Distinguished Citizen award. The local VFW Commander, Gordon L. Wagner, recommended him for the honor. In a letter to the Minnesota VFW Awards Committee, Wagner wrote:
“As a life-long resident of Glenwood, Minnesota, Zavadil, who started a business forms company which has grown into a multi-million dollar corporation, always has put his family, employees and the community first. Through his most generous and thoughtful support, the community of Glenwood has prospered and been enriched. As the enclosed articles demonstrate, he could have sold his company to the highest bidder, who certainly would have moved it to a larger city, but he instead chose to sell it to his employees, thereby ensuring it would always stay and be a large part of Glenwood.
“While his generosity is well known in this community, it is his quiet giving and help that really distinguish him. If a friend or employee has an illness, death or other hardship, Mr. Zavadil is the first to come to their aid. He has anonymously paid many bills for people going through tough times.
“The name, American Business Forms, and logo and the American Flag, which he chose for his company, tell everyone what he thinks of this great community, state and nation. The Minnesota VFW could not find a more patriotic, deserving individual than Larry Zavadil to receive its Distinguished Citizen Award.”
Zavadil will be accepting the award at ceremonies on June 21, 2002, in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
