The Board of Directors of the National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations (NECO) has named Larry A. Zavadil, founder and CEO of American Solutions for Business, as a recipient of the 2005 Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
Established in 1986 by NECO, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor pays tribute to the ancestry groups that comprise America’s unique cultural mosaic. Both the United States Senate and House of Representatives have officially recognized the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which ranks among this country’s most prestigious awards. In addition, recipients of this Medal of Honor are listed in the Congressional Record. The list includes dignitaries like former President Gerald Ford, Mary Lou Retton, Bob Hope, Walter Cronkite, Mickey Mantle, Barbara Walters, General Colin Powell and many others. The 24-year-old company became employee-owned when Zavadil placed the corporation into an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) in 2000.
